BSIS GUARD CARD (PTA) COURSE

CA Driver's License or ID Card

40 Hours of Training & Open Book Test
Finger Printing & Back Ground Check
State Application

Training Breakdown
8 Hours Initial PTA - Powers to Arrest Class
+16 Hours of Training Within 30 days of starting work
+16 Hours of Training Within 6 months of starting work

  

 

 

 

The Process
Step 1 - Register for Class & Pay $100 Class Fee
Step 2 - 8 Hour PTA Class
Step 3 - PTA Test (open book given at class)
Step 4 - Finger Printing (Federal, State & Fee) – Most UPS Stores, Police Depts. $75.00
Step 5 - State Application & Fee - Paid to State $50.00
Step 6* - Receive Guard Card From State or Web Site

BSIS EXPOSED FIREARM PERMIT COURSE 

Initial Firearm Permit

  

 

 

This allows you to open (exposed) carry when you are in uniform.  You need to complete a 14-hour course (8 hours classroom and 6 hours range time).  You need to submit an application to BSIS upon completion.  You then qualify for each specific caliber you intend to carry.  Firearms requalification is needed twice each year in order for you to renew at the end of two years.  In other words, you need to requalify four times by the time you renew after two years.

This session will satisfy your bi-annual requalification for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd requalifications. If you need your 4th Requal and Firearm Permit Renewal, please contact our Training Division
